It’s no secret that nearly everything in Rune Factory 5 is either too expensive or not available without an expansion from Studio Palmer. This is why it helps to craft your own weapons, tools, armors, accessories, and more. However, each item needs specific materials to be made. A common one isRusted Iron. Here’s where to find some.
How to get Rusted Iron
Rusted Iron is a rare drop fromGhosts. Ghosts are frequently seen in two early areas:Belpha Ruinsand theKelve Volcanic Region. They’re those spooks that float around with a scythe.
Ghosts will frequently drop two things: Hoods and Crystal Fragments. But if you defeat enough of them, they might drop Rusted Iron, too. Ghosts can be tamed, but they won’t produce any items.

Rusted Iron can be used to craft a lot of defensive equipment, such as the Turtle Shield, Shield Ring, and Courage Badge. When used to enhance weapons and other equipment, it will add +22 to your defense stat. Rusted Iron can be sold for 200G.
