Beginning with Season 18, a new mode for Iron Banner has been put into play: Eruption. With a new mode comes a whole new set of rules. So, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of how Eruption works.
How does Iron Banner Eruption work in Destiny 2?
Eruption is essentially Clash with kill streaks. Killing an opponent scores one point and a normal amount of energy. Upon a second elimination (assists count), the Guardian will become “Surging.”

When Guardians tick off their fifth kill without dying, they become “Primed.” Note that there can be more than one Primed Guardian at a time.
