The Weakness of the Shade refers to its inability to Hunt if more than one player is near it. One of the biggest misconceptions about the Shade, however, is that players must be in the Ghost Room for it to be unable to Hunt. Shades will walk to nearby rooms or hallways, making it possible for them to initiate a Hunt.

Even on low Sanity, if the Ghost will not initiate a Hunt when two or more players are in the room, it is most likely a Shade.
