In Winter Ember, you play Arthur Artorias on a quest to seek vengeance for the murder of his family. Along the way, you will encounter various side quests that can earn you some extra gold or items. One of these is theA Brother’s Scornquest. This may leave you wondering how to complete the A Brother’s Scorn quest in Winter Ember.
You must firstcomplete the Thief of Joy questand then meet Kasey outside his brother’s home to initiate this quest. He asks you toeliminate the Iron Dovethugs and find his brother inside.
You can either enter through the back window by climbing up the boxes or simply use the front door. There are only two enemies, so they should be easy to dispatch. Once they are defeated, interact with thebookshelf to find a notefrom Kasey’s brother. Show this to Kasey.

Travel to the camp where Kasey’s brother is trying to escape the city. You can barge in and kill the guards or use a side entrance. To the right is an ice wall that leads to a secret tunnel. You will need a flame arrow to access this tunnel marked by thered star. To the left is an explosive barrel guarded by dogs—you will need a blunt arrow to activate the barrel marked by theyellow star.
Once inside the camp, you can avoid the guards and eliminate them while making your way to the back of the camp. There you will find Kasey’s brother and confront him together. Knock the brother out at Kasey’s request by walking behind him like you would an enemy.
How to get the diamond in Winter Ember
Upon waking, Kasey’s brother reveals he had sold the diamond already. You will need to track down the shopkeeper and retrieve the diamond. Upon speaking to the shopkeeper, he will run away. You need tointeract with the paintingto reveal a hidden stairwell.
Go downstairs and use ablunt arrowto activate theswitchto your left. This lifts the gate and lets you proceed. You will need to use quick movement and cover to avoid getting shot by the storekeeper. Do not step on the right path as they arepressure platesand activate anarrow trap. Instead, climb over the crates in front of you while the shopkeeper reloads from the room on the left.
Make your way towards the shopkeeper by moving from cover to cover or when he reloads. When you get upstairs, he retreats further into the cellar. Use ablunt arrowto activate thespike log trapand proceed to the back room.
Once there, you will confront the shopkeeper who opens the safe containing the diamond. Retrieve it and take it back to Kasey. He will reward you with 200 gold and a skill token you can use to upgrade an ability.
