Ember Knights requires players to choose which upgrades they want active. As the choices in each upgrade group are so similar, it can be difficult to choose. Due to the amount of time we have spent playing the game, we believe we have the best upgrade loadout.

You cannot transfer your upgrades to your buddies if you play Co-op. The number of times you may buy an upgrade remains limited, but your partners are only eligible to benefit from the upgrade if you buy it for them. It sounds more like a bug than a feature, so hopefully, that will be patched.
